Google has made another contribution to humanity today by letting you virtually walk around the ruins of Pompeii.
I had a vivid flashback of being introduced to the educational opportunities for the internet at a young age, one of them being "you can take virtual tours of places, so that you don't have to actually visit them on field trips." Except at the time, those "tours" were unbelievably lame slideshows of pictures you couldn't quite make out. Well, kids -- the future is now.
